It’s a privilege to be recognise— Quamina MP

IT is not very easy for most musicians to hit the limelight when they start out and that is why Hiplife artiste, Quamina MP sees the recognition he has gained in just two as a privillege.

In a chat with Graphic Showbiz, the Ground Up Chale music signee said  “I did a few songs before meeting Kwesi Arthur and anytime I uploaded them, I got five to ten views. That has changed in the past two years, I’ve seen a great change. Many people now listen to my songs.

“It’s such a great privilege to be recognised as one of the talented artistes in Ghana. I am very happy but I still have it in mind that there’s a long journey ahead of me so I will continue to work hard to get there,” he said.

Quamina MP who has won two of the eight nominations he has received from different awards schemes in 2019 and 2020 explained that although it is sometimes disappointing to lose out on an award, he’s still focused.

“There were times I was disappointed because I didn’t win but I encouraged myself to work hard so that I will be able to win more awards. I’m focused on making the music more though I like the awards too,” he stated.

Commenting on what inspires his choice of songs and music videos, Quamina said the difficult experiences in life contribute to that.

“I put myself in the songs I write. I consider what I’ve been through to write my songs. I had the inspiration from the way I’ve lived my life before. Writing a song is a whole package and if you put yourself in the song, you will get to know if it makes sense or not.

“Also, I do things that represents me though it’s for my fans. I was a ghetto boy so I feel like doing things to inspire those in similar situations to let them know they can still make it even from a poor background.

The Amanfuor Girls hitmaker is in no hurry to stop appearing shirtless because to him, it’s a symbol of the energy he possess.

“Going shirtless is a way of portraying energy. When a musician performs and removes his shirt, then you know he is on another level. Also I represent the street boys so I just want them to know I’m one of their own, “he said.
