The spirit of carnival is set to ignite across the UK this summer as the Mas Africa Band, joined by the talented Ankos Dancers, brings electrifying performances to Ramsgate, Margate, Hartlepool, and the iconic Notting Hill Carnival.
These vibrant events promise a dazzling celebration of culture, music, and dance, attracting diverse crowds from across the country and beyond.
The festivities kick off on July 27, when the Mas Africa Band takes centre stage at the Ramsgate Carnival, held at Government Acre, Westcliff Promenade. The Ankos Dancers will showcase a spectacular display of costume and choreography, setting the tone for a summer brimming with carnival excitement.
From August 1-10, Hartlepool Headland will come alive with daily performances by the Mas Africa Band between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. at TS24 ONX Moor Parade. This free-entry carnival, hosted in collaboration with Murphy’s Funfair, boasts over 100 rides and attractions. The highlight will be the Grand Parade on August q0, led by the Ankos (Masqueraders) Dancers in a vibrant finale to a week-long celebration of music, dance, and community spirit.
On August 3, the seaside town of Margate will welcome the Mas Africa Band at the Palm Bay–Westbrook venue. The event will feature energetic parades with elaborate costumes, infectious music, and dynamic performances by the Ankos Dancers.
Supported by Kent County Council, Arts Council England, SEFK Social Enterprise Kent, and Fresh Electrical Solar, this event showcases a rich tapestry of African heritage. Highlights include colourful floats and wide community participation, offering a festive experience for families and visitors alike.
The summer carnival season will culminate at the world-famous Notting Hill Carnival in London on August 24-25, where the Mas Africa Band will return for another standout appearance. The Ankos Dancers, in their signature masquerader outfits, will blend traditional African rhythms with contemporary flair, thrilling audiences in one of the world’s biggest street festivals.
These carnivals, supported by local councils and cultural organisations, underscore the diversity, creativity, and cultural pride of the Mas Africa Band and Ankos Dancers.
