Benedicta finds her groove

Kumasi based actress, Benedicta Gafah is happy that finally a movie producer has asked her to play the role of a nun in an upcoming movie. “I am delighted that I’m going to have a break from the many bad-girl roles that I’ve been given most of the time”.

Obviously, Benedicta has been having real life problems with some of the scantily-clothed and body-revealing characters that she has played in movies such as  Most Wanted Girls, Menua, Azonto Ghost, Love and Agony and Black Cobra.

Benedicta said those “hot” roles have been sending wrong signals to some viewers, especially men, who ask her for dates whenever she steps out in public.

“Anytime I step out, I have a lot of men asking for my contact numbers and others making all sorts of passes at me. The other day, a man walked up to me in front of a bank and said ‘you are the kind of girl I need in my bed’ Benedicta told Showbiz in Kumasi last Wednesday.

According to her, it is no fault of hers that producers always cast her in such roles because the producers  have come to realise she is good at playing those roles.

“Anyone who is close to me knows I am not that kind of girl. I am just good at what I do and the producers like casting me for those particular roles” Benedicta said.

Known also for movies such as Mirror Girl, Kweku Saman, Adoma, Agyanka Ba, Azonto Ghost, Poposipopo, Ewiase Ahenie, April Fool, Agya Koo Azonto and Devils Voice, Benedicta  won Discovery of the year and the Most Promising Star awards at the Kumawood awards held recently in Kumasi.

Benedicta who started acting four years ago has acted alongside well-known actors such as  Lil Win, Emelia Brobbey, Mercy Asiedu, Agya Koo and Akrobeto.

Born to Mr and Mrs Kwaku Badu in the Ashanti Region, Benedicta said she was grateful to everyone who has been helpful in developing her career especially, Miracle Films for spotting the talent in her.
