Roselyn returns with head high
Although she didn’t emerge the ultimate winner of the first Africa’s Next Top Model, Ghana’s representative, Roselyn Ashkar has expressed content with her performance during the competition.
She said that even though she came ninth out of 12 finalists, she is not disturbed by the position because she worked hard to raise the flag of Ghana high and looked forward to opportunities from the exposure gained at the competition.
In an interaction with a number of artswriters at the Silver Lounge in Accra last Tuesday, Miss Ashkar said the competiton was very challenging but she braced herself through all the odds to make a good impression of herself and country.
“When I got to South Africa, I realised some of the countries had two or more representatives and I was the only representative for Ghana.
“This pushed me to work harder because I had no chance to settle for less being the lone ranger in such a competitive show. I had to bring out my best and that was exactly what I did.
She told Showbiz that prior to the competition, she had no game plan and was more interested in getting her face and brand known internationally. “ I may not have clinched the title but I think I represented Ghana well. Besides, I won one competitive task and that meant I had something good in me” she stated.
“I have no regrets for taking part in this competition because my confidence has grown and I am ready to grab many of the opportunities out there”.
A final year student of African University College of Communication (AUCC), Roselyn Ashkar’s journey to Africa’s Next Top Model began in July last year when she auditioned at the M Plaza hotel.
Miss Askar who is a former Miss Malaika contestant, has also had a stint with both radio and TV when she produced Live Confidential with Confidence on Live FM. She also hosted the Miss Ghana Diaries last year.
The maiden edition of Africa’s Next Top Model featured aspiring models from Angola, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Tunisia and Uganda.
Hosted by Nigerian supermodel, Oluchi Onweagba Orlandi, Africa’s Next Top Model was an entertaining celebration of the beauty, fashion and unique stories of aspiring models from across the continent.
