Discipline attracts corporate sponsorship – Shatta Wale
FOR Ghanaian creatives struggling to attract corporate sponsorship, Dancehall star Shatta Wale believes the answer lies in one simple word—discipline.
The self-proclaimed Dancehall King believes that discipline, backed by hard work and consistency, is the ultimate formula for catching the eye of the corporate world.
Shatta Wale was speaking with journalists during a “question and answer” session following a courtesy visit to MTN MobileMoney Ltd (MoMo Ghana), a subsidiary of MTN Ghana, on Monday, October 20, 2025.
The visit was part of Shatta Wale’s appreciation tour following the success of ShattaFest 2025, which took over the Independence Square in Accra on Saturday, October 18.
“Discipline, hard work and how we push the agenda of everything we do. To have a brand like Momo Ghana partner my Shattafest shows that the corporate world is watching and always ready to support people like us,” he said.
The mega concert, which also marked his 40th birthday, transformed Independence Square into a sea of fans.
Thousands turned up to celebrate the Dancehall icon, creating one of the most unforgettable nights on Ghana’s entertainment calendar.
The legion of adoring fans was undoubtedly one of the best birthday presents he could have asked for.
For industry watchers, the massive turnout was further proof of Shatta Wale’s unmatched appeal and growing influence in Ghana’s music scene. His partnership with MTN MoMo also highlighted how music and technology can merge to power Ghana’s creative economy. (Read Give Shatta Wale a Diplomatic Passport, He’s earned it - Blogger tells govt)
During his visit, the Street Crowned hitmaker described the collaboration as a “dream come true” and promised to make ShattaFest an annual experience.
“We’re all shocked, even I’m shocked about the numbers,” he said, flashing his trademark grin. “I believe everybody should be happy now with the turnout we had.”
He further credited the success of ShattaFest to strategic partnerships, adding that plans were underway to take the celebration beyond Accra and even outside Ghana.
“I believe with a few more collaborations with MTN MoMo and other affiliations, we’ll have it every year,” he revealed.
Speaking during the visit, CEO of MTN MoMo, Shaibu Haruna, also admitted he was blown away by the size and energy of the crowd.
“I had no clue the kind of following you have. I obviously knew you had a powerful following, but this weekend was extra special,” he said.
He also lauded Shatta for inspiring the youth and breaking barriers in Ghana’s music scene. (Read Shatta Wale: I’m shocked at the crowd that turned up at ShattaFeast concert)
Shatta Wale shot to fame in 2004 as Bandana with his hit song, ‘Moko Ho’, after which he went missing from the radar.
He resurfaced as Shatta Wale after almost a decade of hiatus with another banger, Dancehall King.
Following his remarkable comeback, Shatta Wale’s journey is a masterclass in resilience and reinvention. He has become one of Africa’s most influential acts, clinching the Artiste of the Year title at the 2014 Ghana Music Awards and commanding a loyal fan base.
