Radio presenter, Gilbert Aggrey also known as Abeiku Santana has also questioned the rationale behind dumsor vigil, terming it as unnecessary.

According to him, the action of the celebrities will not achieve any results as has been demonstrated by previous demonstrations on the same issue.

He rather directed the celebrities to channel their energies towards fighting for a better film industry rather than on the energy crisis.

Speaking on Citi FM Friday, Abeiku Santana, who is also an aspiring Member of Parliament for Mfantseman East, said “They should understand that their career is very important. There is legislation currently before Parliament, the film bill…You sit here and there is a lot of foreign soap operas that have taken over our television…Can’t you see that they are, excuse me to say, shallow?”

According to him, the celebrities “don’t understand the issues, let alone to fight for the nation. If they want to fight, they should fight for themselves…fight for something that will benefit you.”

“You sit in Ghana here, we are showing Nigerian movies…Go to Kenya and South Africa and see whether they are showing Nigerian movies on their television. It is not dumsor vigil that will achieve anything because w)ngbo has done it, wahala has done it,” he said.

The Dumsor Vigil, organised by rapper Sarkodie and actress, Yvonne Nelson, is scheduled to take place Saturday, May 16, 2015.
