Independence Square erupts as BigTwins Africa headlines Chale Wote 2025

The Independence Square in Accra was transformed into a pulsating hub of rhythm and culture on Saturday night as BigTwins Africa Music and Dance Ensemble headlined this year’s Chale Wote Festival.

The 17-member ensemble, led by renowned twins Chief Hassan Fusseini Mohammed and Fuseini Mohammed, delivered a breathtaking performance that combined traditional African rhythms with vibrant highlife music. The showpiece, described by many as the highlight of the festival, drew thunderous applause from an audience of both Ghanaians and members of the diaspora.

BigTwins thrilled fans with a live rendition of their popular track Don’t Waste My Time before debuting an unreleased single, Tell Me You Got Love for Me. The new track, which blends soulful melodies with energetic beats, was met with roaring approval as festivalgoers danced deep into the night.

For many in attendance, the performance was more than entertainment. The group’s powerful blend of drumming, dance and harmonies created a spectacle that celebrated Ghana’s identity while uniting generations and cultures in a carnival atmosphere.

“Performing at Chale Wote as the headline act at Independence Square is more than an honour – it is a call to carry Ghana’s heartbeat to the world,” said Chief Hassan Fusseini Mohammed after the performance. “Our music is a bridge between past and future, Africa and the world.”

The appearance at Chale Wote marks the start of a busy period for BigTwins. The ensemble has announced plans for a major world tour in 2026 and will represent Ghana at Brazil’s world-famous Carnival that same year, in what is expected to be a vibrant cultural exchange between Africa and South America.

Formed in Ghana and comprising musicians and dancers dedicated to showcasing African heritage, BigTwins Africa has spent more than a decade performing across global stages. Their latest appearance at Chale Wote reinforced their reputation as not just entertainers, but cultural ambassadors carrying Ghana’s story to the world.
