John Dumelo given the nod to represent NDC in Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency
Popular Ghanaian actor and now politician, John Dumelo has been given the nod by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to represent the party as its parliamentary candidate in next year’s general elections.
The latest news comes after two of his contenders including his close friend, Fred Nuamah dropped out of the race last week after a “harmonious agreement”.

Announcing the good news on his Facebook page yesterday, August 13, the actor who has featured in a number of movies such as Northern Affair, Private Storm and Chelsea expressed his appreciation to everyone for the continuous support to make his parliamentary race a possibility.
“Yesterday, I was declared the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency NDC parliamentary candidate for the 2024 general elections. Thanks to everyone who made this possible. I really appreciate it. Together let’s win this seat. This is our time. #idey4u #givechangechance,” he posted.
The leadership of the NDC in the constituency also called on its supporters to rally behind Dumelo in win the seat from the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP)’s Lydia Alhassan.
This is the second time the award winning actor will be representing the NDC party as their parliamentary candidate after losing in the 2020 elections.
He polled 37,778 votes against the incumbent’s 39,851 in the Ayawaso West-Wuogon constituency that is thought to be the stronghold of the NPP.
