Kempinski brings Christmas cheer with Tree Lighting ceremony

The Christmas season is here and Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra is spreading holiday cheer with its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

An annual cherished tradition, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, which took place at the hotel's gardens on Sunday, November 30, brought together music ensembles, soloists, ambassadors and esteemed guests. 

The ceremony, in collaboration with Ambiance by Talata, marked the official start of the holiday season, with guests enjoying soulful carols, inspiring speeches, and vibrant performances. 

In a welcome address by the General Manager of Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel Silvia Rajniak said the evening marked two significant occasions, the festive season and the momentous milestone of Kempinski’s 10 years anniversary.

She said over the years, their annual tree light ceremony had provided an opportunity to connect with clients, friends and families, strengthen relationships and offer the community hope, joy and togetherness.

“Tonight, we celebrate two significant occasions. The festive season and the momentous milestone of our hotel’s 10 years presence in the community.

“Over the years, our annual tree light ceremony has provided an opportunity to connect with clients, friends and families, strengthen relationships and offer community of hope, joy and togetherness.

“This year is especially meaningful as we mark our 10 years anniversary. Kempinski has stood as a symbol of hospitality, service in the heart of Accra and we are privileged to call Ghana our home. 

As the festive season begins, we are reminded of the joy it brings. May this festive season bring joy to your homes and inspiration for the New Year,” she said. 

Speaking at the event, Talata Maldima-Provencal, CEO of Ambiance by Talata, expressed her excitement about sharing the company's Christmas story with guests. 

“Christmas trees are more than decorations to us; they hold presence and memories," she said.

This year's tree, themed "Christmas is Evergreen," features bubbles carrying scented rituals made with local products, including Aloe Vera crafted by women from Northern Ghana.

“The theme for the Christmas tree is Christmas is evergreen. Seasons will pass, memories will fade but Christmas will always remain with all of us,” she added.

The collaboration between Ambiance by Talata and Kempinski Hotel aims to showcase refined African and Ghanaian craftsmanship, blending timeless hospitality with global refinement.

“Together, we've created a festive experience that honours elegance, heritage, and memory," Maldima-Provencal added.

Performances by Highlife artiste, Kwabena Kwabena, gospel singer, Anuonyam, Kwan Pa band and students of Roman Ridge School entertained the crowd with lively music and dance, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The event was attended by CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto. Director of Diaspora Affairs at the office of the President- Kofi Okyere Darko, among others.

Kenyan Ambassador to Ghana, Colonel (rtd) Shem Ishahilidza Amadi, Turkish Ambassador, HE Huseyin Gungor, Management team from Roman Ridge School led by the Principal, Valerie Mainoo and deputy heads.

The night was compered by media personality, Nathaniel Attoh, popularly known as Citizen Attoh.
