From her days as a basic school teacher at Koforidua in the Eastern Region to this time when she has clinched many awards, owns online broadcast channels, a recording studio, a band and a recording label, Ohemaa says she feels humbled by the abundant grace God has endowed her with.

She is currently one of nation’s best-loved singers and a strong pillar in the music business. She has invested a great deal of hard work into her career and believes her strength of conviction about what she does and her clarity of thought are yielding fruits for her and many others.

Ohemaa came to public attention in 2005 with her debut album, ‘Adamfo Papa.’ which won her nominations at the 2006 Ghana Music Awards. After the release of her second album, ‘Edin Ben’ in 2007, she grabbed the awards in the Gospel Artiste of the Year, Gospel Album of the Year and Album of the Year categories at the 2008 Ghana Music Awards.

She has since gone on to record four other highly successful albums: ‘Wobeye Kese’, ‘Prophecy’, ‘His Word’ and ‘Aforebo’.

She strongly believes anyone endowed by God with a voice to sing well or play an instrument has also been blessed with the ability to take good control of the business side of the gift as well.

“I believe that when God blesses you to a certain level, what you attain is not for yourself only. You must create avenues for others to also benefit from your blessing. I think more and more showbiz people here are beginning to understand the business aspect of their work.

“The music ministry is a big terrain. One cannot do it alone. You need other committed people to help so I have a big team and we work together and take the business side of things seriously. I advise my colleague musicians to also do that so we can help society and also those coming after us.”

Her generous philanthropic efforts have included help for prisons. She is convinced people in jail must not be forsaken by the rest of society and that is why she pays a lot of attention to her prison ministry.

She also has a big heart for education and supports several young people through school apart from providing a variety of amenities for some orphanages.

As she marks her 40th birthday, Ohemaa says she is extremely grateful to all who have impacted her music career in one way or the other. She tahanked music producer, Big Ben and his wife for their immense support.

“They saw what was in me and invested so much and that is why we are seeing all this glory,” she said.

She also expressed her gratitude to her husband, Isaac Twum-Ampofo for being there for her all the time and appreciated engineers such as Nacee, the late George Forest, Morris Babyface, Kaywa, Francis Osei, Shar and others for their help.

“There are the spiritual fathers, the media, my band, other gospel artistes, my fans and many others I’m grateful to for everything,” she added.

As for the birthday bash, she said everything was in the hands of her husband because he knew how to spring the unlikeliest and most pleasant of surprises.
