Okyeame Kwame’s Hiplife Party on Christmas Day
Rapper Okyeame Kwame is set to bring back nostalgic memories of the 90s and early 2000s on Christmas Day when he hosts the annual Hiplife Party at +233 Jazz Bar and Grill in Accra.
Since 2019, Okyeame Kwame’s Hiplife Party has been a gathering for the celebration of authentic Ghanaian music in support of the promotion of Ghana’s culture.

And this year, the event has been publicised to host performances from artistes such as Wutah Afriyie, Skrewfaze, Abochi, Abiana, Kwabena Kwabena, Crazy Keys and Souly Bird.
Also on the bill are DJ Kaxro and Andy Dosty as DJs on the night.
In a chat with Graphic Showbiz, Okyeame Kwame said Hiplife Party is an initiative to help protect and preserve hiplife music which gained prominence in Ghana in the mid-90s.
Back in the 90s, Hiplife music which fuses highlife and hip hop elements contributed to blossoming careers of many young musicians such as Obrafour, Lord Kenya and Okyeame Kwame himself at the time.
However, the popularity of the music style has waned over the years but the Woso hitmaker is certain Hiplife keeps the culture of Ghanaian music alive.
And that has been the motivation for the celebration of Hiplife Party adding, “This is to celebrate the culture”.

The event has in the past featured great hiplife artistes such as Akatayie, Chicago, Kwaw Kese, Abrewa Nana, Tinny, among others.
Hiplife Party also falls in line with Okyeame Kwame’s commitment to the promotion and patronage of Made in Ghana products over the years.
He was recently honoured by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) at this year’s National Tourism Awards for his contribution to Ghana’s tourism industry particularly in the promotion of Made-in-Ghana products.
His Made in Ghana album, a collaborative effort with the Ghana Tourism Authority in 2019, was an initiative aimed at fostering a sense of nationalism and promoting tourism.
