‘Pundits’ talk entertainment on Gh One

It started as a platform to catch interesting, informative and educative discussions on the 2011 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards on Gh One, but the success of the talk show encouraged the station to keep it as one if its shows.

And after seven years, the show, hosted by George Quaye, has grown to become one of the most sought after television entertainment discussions in the country.

With the able assistance of its regular panelists, Francis Doku, James Kwasi Oberko and Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo, the “pundits” discuss trending issues of showbiz in the country every Tuesday.

Speaking with George Quaye, who is also Head of Communications at Multiple Concepts group, he said the Pundits had grown over the years to become an “authority” on the various discussions geared towards the collective interest of building the Arts and Entertainment industry.

“The Pundits, unlike other Entertainment talk shows, doesn’t just review events and engagements. It is more in-depth with its discussions and that has been our secret so far,” he stated.

According to George, the producers select issues pertinent to the industry from artiste management, remuneration, tourism, music, film, television and dance. 

“We give notable recognition to issues that trend on the various social media networks with the aim of empowering the audience to be informed on relevant entertainment issues,” he added.

Apart from the panellists “spewing” their opinions, the audience also have the opportunity to express their thoughts on issues through phone - ins, social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and vox pops as well.

In its six years of existence, The Pundits has gained some recognition with its various nomination in the annual Radio and Television Personality ( RTP) Awards. 

Having walked home with the bragging rights of  RTP’s Best Male Entertainment TV Show host on two occasions, George Quaye believes “The Pundits has come to stay”.
