The royal bullets from the lens of COP John Amonor

Sawer John Amonor, a policeman by profession and photographer by passion, has once again showcased his exceptional talent in capturing the essence of Ghana's rich cultural heritage.

His breathtaking photographs of the late Asantehemaa's final rites at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi have taken the nation by storm. With his keen eye for detail and mastery of light and composition, Amonor's lens captured the majesty of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in a series of captivating images. The photographs not only showcased the king's dignified demeanour but also the intricate details of the traditional outfits, transporting viewers to the heart of the Ashanti kingdom.

However, Amonor's photographs went beyond the Asantehene; they told a story of a nation in mourning, of a people united in grief and celebration of a life well-lived.

His images conveyed the emotions, traditions, and customs of the Ashanti people, offering a glimpse into the kingdom's glorious past.

The response to Amonor's photographs has been overwhelming, with social media abuzz with admiration for his work. Many have hailed him a "photography genius," and his images have indeed opened the world's eyes to the richness of the Ashanti kingdom's cultural heritage.

“My photographs are more than just images; they reflect the power of photography to freeze time and transcend generations. My works including that of Asantehemaa’s ensures that the memory of the late Asantehemaa will continue to inspire future generations to cherish and uphold the traditions and practices of the Ashanti nation.

As a policeman, Amonor says he man may serve and protect, but as a photographer, he captures the essence of Ghana's cultural identity, one frame at a time.

“My work as a photographer is a gentle reminder that with passion and dedication, one can truly make a lasting impact,” he said.
