Two ‘Mirror Balls’ for Christmas

With December being the last month of the year and as tradition demands, the monthly old school jam, The Tulip Mirror Ball will be hosted twice to nourish the holiday appetite.

So this month, The Tulip Mirror Ball will be held on Friday, December 20 and 27 at the Branche Lounge of the Golden Tulip Hotel.

According to the organisers, Tag Team Ltd, the theme for the December 20 is “Retro” so guests can come dressed in their old school attire.

“ For the memory challenged among the groove crew, we are talking of the bell bottoms, butterfly collars, crimplene, corduroys, denim jumpsuits, afros and the bright coloured silk shirts that were distorted by our black and white TV screens back in the day to name a few” said Edwin Baffour of Tag Team.

He said on December 27 “ we will go freestyle so that our visiting ‘ballers’ from abroad can easily fit into the theme”.

Last month’s event saw a massive turnout. The Branche Lounge was filled to the brim with patrons in the most eye catching creations by a host of local designers we can all be proud of.

Kalahari bitters put on their usual VIP welcome with an array of refreshingly colourful cocktails for the first 100 guests.

A regular ‘baller’ Pamela won a night’s accommodation with dinner and breakfast for two for her elegant wax print inspired dress while Ghanaian musician, Ekow Alabi and Dr. Sharita, each received GHC100 worth of airtime from sponsors Vodafone for their outfits.

The sound worked like a spirit entering every corner of the lounge, dialing up the old school nostalgia as DJ Blow commandeered the forces on the dance floor.
