Speaker, MPs unanimously agree to abolish Office of Special Prosecutor
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, as well as members of Parliament have unanimously agreed to a recommendation for the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to be abolished.
They said since its establishment eight years ago, Parliament had approved huge budgets for the OSP yet it had failed to show any achievement in terms of fighting corruption.
They were of the strong conviction that if the Attorney-General’s Department was adequately resourced, it would be equipped to curb corruption and prosecute corrupt government and public officials.

President John Dramani Mahama has blamed the poor performance of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination candidates to years of neglect of basic education.
He said the “inability to send the capitation grants, ensuring that we have quality teachers at a foundational level, at a basic level, because it is that level that prepares the child for secondary and tertiary education.
“And once you don't get that level right, you will just send the child through a conveyor belt like a factory, and when it comes out at the end, it will be picked out by quality control and said that this one did not do well,” the President said at the official launch of a STEM Box for basic schoolchildren in Accra.

Govt rolls out guidelines for armoured bullion vehicles
The Ministry of the Interior has rolled out guidelines and standards for the importation, retrofitting, usage and decommissioning of armoured bullion vehicles (ABV) in Ghana.
The guidelines and standards cover, among others, the importation requirements and certification processes, operational and maintenance standards, procedures for inspection, testing, and compliance monitoring, personnel qualifications, specifications for retrofitting and modification, safe and proper decommissioning of the ABVs and recovery and redundancy strategy for contingency scenarios.
They (guidelines and standards) are to be enforced alongside the Standard Operating Procedures on ABVs by the Ghana Police Service and the Bank of Ghana.

"The last time I came, he [contractor] assured us that by July next year [2026], he [contractor] will be able to hand over the road.
"But if I look at the progress being made, I'm sure that by April next year [2026], if you guys push hard, you'll be able to finish this road and hand it over, so that we can use it. This alignment of the road is the road that links Accra to Kumasi, " President John Dramani Mahama has said.
President Mahama said this on Wednesday when he inspected the progress of construction works on the Ofankor-Nsawam section of the N6 highway that links Accra to the Eastern, Ashanti, and other parts of northern Ghana.
