  • Six immigration officers seen in video disrespecting senior officer interdicted

    The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has interdicted six officers for gross misconduct after a video shared on social media showed them verbally assaulting a senior officer. 

    The senior officer, who identified himself as a Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DC01), was travelling as a passenger on a commercial vehicle when the incident occurred on November 25, 2025, at the Offinso Inland Checkpoint in the Ashanti Region, where the officers were on duty.

    According to the GIS, the behaviour captured in the video—including verbal assault, lack of civility, and open disrespect toward a superior—falls far below the standards expected of personnel.

    She accused both the Speaker and the Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, of scheming a coordinated campaign of intimidation, harassment, and institutional abuse to remove the Minority Leader from the ECOWAS Parliament.

    She explained that the two removed Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s name from Ghana's delegation to ECOWAS Parliament without any consultation or seeking her consent.

    “This is a cynical, diabolical, and constitutionally perverse scheme ever orchestrated within the precincts of Ghana’s Parliament,” she said, saying that the move had embarrassed Ghana before the community of West African nations.

    The Law Platform reports that the High Court presided over by Justice Mrs. Dorinda Smith Arthur has therefore dismissed the application of Akosua Serwaa, who was asking the court to declare that she should be given recognition as the only surviving spouse of Daddy Lumba and the sole individual entitled to perform widowhood rites at his funeral.
