    A group, numbering about 30 and claiming to be members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Saturday stormed the premises of the Bui Power Authority (BPA), demanding that all employees, from management to the lowest level, vacate their positions.

    They argued that their government had taken over and therefore the employees have to be changed.

    The group insisted that not even the President can stop their actions, claiming Ghana belongs to all citizens and warning of further action if their demands were ignored.

  • ORAL uncovers evidence of loot by appointees of previous govt — Ablakwa

    The Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu and Chairman of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that the team has gathered substantial evidence of suspected looted state assets by appointees of the previous administration.

    According to Ablakwa, the collected evidence would soon be presented to President John Dramani Mahama for further action.

    Speaking at a thanksgiving service at Akosombo for Thomas Ampem Nyarko, the MP for Asuogyaman in the Eastern Region, Mr Ablakwa explained that ORAL was not a nine-day wonder which would end any time soon.

    The Frimpong-Manso Institute (FMI), a not-for-profit organisation has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to roll out a credible and reliable strategy in future elections for the collation of election results with minimum delays. 

    The FMI also urged the EC to amend Constitutional Instrument (CI) 127 which regulates the conduct of Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

    That, it said, would help the EC to respond to challenges and ultimately help improve the electoral process.

  • Parliament suspends sitting for committee to vet ministerial nominees; orient new legislators

    The first meeting of the first session of the Ninth Parliament has been suspended until Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

    This is to enable the Appointments Committee of Parliament to vet new ministerial nominees by President John Dramani Mahama and refer them to the plenary for approval or otherwise.

    The suspension period is also to be used to organise a four-day orientation workshop, especially for new legislators to acquaint themselves with the rudiments and procedures of the House.

    To him, the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy ought to be reviewed, and making parents pay for feeding and accommodation is one of the things to consider under the review.
