Mekandi Riverside Resort, Chale Wote
Nestled along the Volta Lake near Akuse, even the pool at Mekandi Riverside Resort gives good "Me" time vibes!

I am excited. It is lucid, so clear, and it feels good to finally manage to connect everything together. But, wait! After getting off the phone having answered a call that turned out to be a 'wrong line', I can't, for the life of me, remember the beautiful idea anymore!

I am at my wits end trying so desperately to remember but to no avail! I want to cry.

Why, nobody told me this was going to be part of the growing pains I'll be experiencing as I hit middle age!

Middle age. I've been in denial for a while now, refusing, like many people my age, to accept that we're pushing on in age. Though not quite as spritely and agile as I used to be, I do feel like I have always felt, pretty cool, young and in tune. Having to deal with these occasional memory lapses and the aches of the joints is something I thought happened to old people! Surely, I am not that old!

These days though, I find myself going round in circles when I want to form an idea. There's just something I can't put a finger on that's happening to me and I'm beginning to worry. I often feel exhausted, like I am burnt out! That's why I've come here, to one of my all-time favourite hideaways. It's a place just about an hour's drive northwest at Akuse, nestled right along the Volta lake.

I've spent just a few hours here at Mekandi Riverside Resort and I already feel restored. The most fascinating thing I like about this place is their manicured lawn. Every time I come,

I am very happy to see that they've kept to their word in maintaining this extremely beautiful gem of theirs. The whole expanse of green grass cascading towards the river, contrasting with its fluid azure.

I've booked a full body massage for later this evening. I have a spot quite close to shore, where there's a calming flow with subtle ripples that just sends me off snoring the moment my back begins to feel a knead! I'm so looking forward to surrendering to nature's calm here at Mekandi tonight.

You must come here sometime, give yourself a treat, indulge in this riverside oasis and get renewed. Me, I've promised myself to do Ghana's rural gems with lodging and not let the hustle of city life overtake me like it seems lately. Right now, I'm sitting by the pool with a cocktail in hand. Ah, this is the life!

From Monday, the Chale Wote Street Art Festival, which celebrates art and culture, and brings together artists from across the globe, making it one of the most anticipated events of the year, is coming off from August 19 to  August 25, on the theme, "And Now An End To The Empire of Horrors,"!

This year's, as always, promises to be yet another powerful and thought-provoking exploration of bold narratives through stunning visual and performance art.

The usual massive crowds are expected. And though it tends to make the carnival procession event oversubscribed, it gives good vibes! The street performances, the body art, the music, all makes the events an unforgettable experience. And this year they will commence from Osu Township through Osu Castle to the great convergence at the Black Star Square. Do immerse yourself in it and enjoy the Ga vibes the festival emanates.
