She also inaugurated a mechanised borehole at Manponteng, which is the third out of 10 mechanised boreholes, being provided by the MP under her water projects to the constituency.

The provision of the two key social amenities to her people formed part of her programme to support infrastructural development in the area.

The borehole, with a 5,000- litre overhead tank for water storage, is part of the MP’s efforts to help solve the acute water shortage in the constituency.

Quality education

Speaking to the Daily Graphic during the presentation ceremony, Miss Oteng Mensah said the provision of the two key amenities formed part of her contribution to ensure that pupils in her constituency had access to quality education and water supply.

She said education was key to the nation’s development and a catalyst to bridging the gap between the rich and the poor, and, therefore, called on all stakeholders to support the government in its educational reform policy under the free senior high school programme.

The MP bemoaned the lack of basic teaching and learning materials in some schools in the area and said the provision of such basic materials were key to sustaining the policy.

She stated that the world was revolving around technology, hence the need for students and pupils to embrace the study of Information Communication Technology (ICT), pointing out that the presentation of computers to the schools was to build the students’ interest in ICT to better prepare them for the study of the subject at the SHS level.

She urged pupils preparing for the upcoming BECE to study hard in order to get better grades to enable them to further their education to the highest level.

Receiving the materials, Mrs Ofori-Atta expressed appreciation and appealed to the MP and other stakeholders to provide more furniture and computers to some schools in the constituency to bridge the gap between them and the others.
