RisingSun Montessori supports Adawso Presby JHS with sanitary pads, uniforms

RisingSun Montessori has donated essential items, including clothes, footwear, books, bags, stationery, sanitary pads and consumables, to Adawso Presby JHS in Adawso Akuapem to help alleviate challenges faced by the school.

The donation, which took place last Friday, also included newly sewn uniforms for 20 selected students and a cash contribution to support the school.

Life lessons

Presenting the items, the Head of School for the Dome branch, Jonathan Atandzi, emphasised that the donation aligned with the school's commitment to teaching students life lessons beyond academics.

“As educators, we believe that learning goes beyond the classroom. Teaching our students to be compassionate and to contribute to society is just as important as academic excellence.

“This initiative is not just about giving, it is about nurturing responsible and empathetic future leaders,” he said.

The Principal of RisingSun Montessori Schools, Emenefa Acheampong, noted that her institution believed in character formation.

“Our school believes in shaping students not only through academics but also through character formation. Reaching out to the less privileged is part of our corporate social responsibility,” she said.

She added that the donation was intended to support learning by providing students with the necessary tools for their education.

“Access to books, stationery, schoolbags, and clothing will help these students focus better in school, while the provision of sanitary pads will ensure that female students do not miss classes due to menstrual hygiene challenges,” she stated.

Academic experience

Receiving the donation on behalf of the school, the Headmaster of Adawso Presby JHS, Jonathan Appiah, expressed appreciation for the gesture, noting its importance in improving students’ academic experiences.

“This support will go a long way in easing some of the burdens on our students and their families.

With these learning materials and essential supplies, our students will be better equipped to concentrate on their studies,” he said.

The Chief of Adawso Akuapem, Nana Sakyi Amoako II, also commended RisingSun Montessori Schools for their generosity.

“This is a commendable initiative. It is heartwarming to see young students learning the value of giving back to society at such an early age.

We encourage more institutions to follow this example,” he said.

The initiative also served an educational purpose for the RisingSun students, as it provided them with an opportunity to explore rural life and observe key landmarks in line with their social studies curriculum.
