NaCCA approves Professor Douglas Boateng’s landmark book on boardroom governance

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has given official approval to a groundbreaking publication by Professor Douglas Boateng aimed at reshaping leadership development and boardroom professionalism in Ghana and across Africa.

The book, Practical Perspectives on Boardroom Governance, was endorsed after a rigorous independent review, earning praise for its clarity, accessibility, and practical application. It is written in a style that makes complex boardroom concepts understandable for a wide audience, ranging from corporate leaders and policymakers to tertiary students and even senior high school learners.

Professor Boateng, widely recognised as one of Africa’s leading authorities on supply chain governance, industrialisation, and boardroom leadership, said the work was his contribution to building stronger ethical leadership across the continent. “Leadership begins with understanding and understanding must be inclusive,” he stated. “This book is my personal and professional contribution to nurturing a continent-wide culture of ethical, competent, and future-ready governance.”

With more than 30 years of professional experience advising governments, international institutions, and multinational corporations across five continents, Professor Boateng brings a wealth of expertise to the subject. He is a chartered engineer registered with the UK Engineering Council, a Fellow of the Institute of Directors UK for over 25 years, and also a Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineering and the Institute of Directors-Ghana.

In 2024, the Institute of Directors-Ghana (IoD-Gh) honoured him with the Director of the Year Award in recognition of his long-standing contributions to boardroom professionalism, governance excellence, and industrial development. Welcoming the publication, the IoD-Gh President, Rev. (Mrs.) Angela Carmen Appiah, described the book as a timely intervention. “This landmark publication by Professor Boateng comes at a crucial time in our continent’s governance evolution. It offers practical, relevant, and transformational insights for both emerging and experienced directors. It is a must-read for anyone committed to raising the standards of leadership in Ghana and the rest of Africa,” she remarked.

The book was published and printed by Appointed Time Printing Press. Its Managing Director, Mrs Jacqueline Afful, expressed pride in working on the project, saying: “We are honoured to have worked with Professor Boateng on this generational publication. This is more than a book; it is a practical tool, a legacy resource, and a beacon of ethical leadership for Africa’s next chapter.”

Bulk distribution and knowledge partnership support are being provided by PanAvest International, a Pan African advisory and capacity-building firm with a strong track record in governance innovation, industrialisation, and executive coaching.

With NaCCA’s endorsement, Practical Perspectives on Boardroom Governance is expected to become a cornerstone resource for corporate onboarding, board training, and academic instruction across Ghana and beyond. The book is now available at major bookstores nationwide, with bulk orders being coordinated through PanAvest Publishing.
