Student support: Briphildon Foundation donates essential items to Dzorwulu JHS BECE candidates

The Briphildon Foundation has extended a helping hand to candidates of the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at Dzorwulu Junior High School, providing them with mathematical sets, pens, stationery, and toiletries to aid in their preparations.

The donation, made on Thursday, May 29, 2025, is part of the Foundation’s broader effort to ease the financial strain on families and ensure that students are well-equipped for their upcoming examinations.

The initiative, led by the Foundation’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Bright Philip Donkor, formed part of its “Outreach Programme to Support BECE Candidates”. Speaking at the brief presentation ceremony, Mr Donkor said the gesture was borne out of a desire to ensure that no student is left behind due to a lack of basic examination materials.

“This simple gesture should remind us of what the Bible teaches about giving. Scripture is filled with wisdom on generosity. In 2 Corinthians 9:7, the Apostle Paul writes, ‘Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.’ Giving should flow from the heart, not from pressure or obligation,” he said.

Mr Donkor underscored the importance of education in national development and encouraged the candidates to pursue their dreams with integrity and determination. “Supporting our young brothers and sisters goes beyond meeting material needs—it is about planting seeds of hope. These students represent the future of our nation, and by investing in their education, even in small ways, we contribute to building a brighter and more empowered society,” he noted.

He added, “As a foundation, we believe in their dreams. We stand with them and pray that God protects and strengthens them with good health and sound minds as they sit for the BECE. May they excel and come out with flying colours. May we continue to be channels of God’s grace, touching lives in both visible and unseen ways. And as we give, may we always remember the words of Acts 20:35: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Mr Donkor advised the candidates to remain focused, study hard, and avoid all forms of examination malpractice, emphasising that success achieved with honesty and hard work has long-lasting value.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, Headmistress Mrs Irene Yankson Neequaye expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Foundation for the timely intervention. She said the donation would not only provide material support but also boost the morale of the candidates ahead of their examination, which starts on Wednesday, 11 June and ends on Tuesday, 17 June 2025.

“Children are the future, and any form of support that contributes to their growth is a step in the right direction,” Mrs Neequaye said. She also called on other philanthropic individuals and organisations to emulate the Briphildon Foundation’s example and support the school’s efforts in delivering quality education.

The Briphildon Foundation is a registered non-governmental organisation that focuses on improving the lives of the underprivileged and marginalised through various social interventions. It envisions a society rooted in compassion, empowerment, and inclusivity, where every individual, regardless of background or circumstance, can live with dignity and realise their potential.

By supporting educational initiatives such as this, the Foundation hopes to inspire hope, foster development, and bridge the socio-economic gap between the privileged and the disadvantaged.
