Winston Yeboah Danso: Founder of East Legon Football Academy donates educational materials to BECE graduates

Philanthropist and founder of the East Legon Football Academy (ELFA), Winston Yeboah Danso, has extended support to graduates of Harrison’s Mizpah Academy in Akyem Saamang, Eastern Region, by donating essential educational materials to aid their academic journey.

The donation, which included stationery, scientific calculators, school bags and other supplies, was made to students who sat for the recently concluded Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, Headmaster Pastor Eric Antwi expressed gratitude to Mr Danso, noting that this was not the first time the institution had benefited from his generosity. He said the gesture would not only enhance teaching and learning but also inspire confidence among the students, particularly in a community where educational resources remain limited.

Mr Danso explained that his motivation stemmed from the outstanding academic performance of the students and his broader commitment to empowering the less privileged. “Education and talent development are causes I’ve dedicated myself to supporting over the years,” he said. “I believe in nurturing talent, whether in academics or football, and I encourage more individuals and organisations to join hands in uplifting less privileged communities.”

Established as a mission-based institution, Harrison’s Mizpah Academy provides education from crèche to junior high school, with a focus on discipline, Christian values and holistic development under the motto “Knowledge and Integrity.”

Mr Danso’s intervention continues his track record of philanthropy, which often extends beyond his football academy. Since its establishment in 2019, ELFA has not only developed young players but also gained international recognition, having competed three times in Denmark’s prestigious Dana Cup and winning two trophies.

Beyond football, he has consistently supported players and young people facing financial and personal challenges, providing opportunities for growth and development both on and off the pitch.

The recent donation, he said, reflects his belief that investing in education remains one of the surest ways to transform communities and create opportunities for future generations.
