The 125 were arrested for engaging in illegal small-scale mining in the Ashanti, Western and Central regions.

Issues concerning the legal status of the foreigners have been in contention since they were allegedly raided and arrested by security operatives.

A Joy FM report quoted the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Immigration Service, Mr Francis Palmdeti, as saying that more Chinese were expected to be deported after the completion of repatriation processes.

He said Mr Benard Antwi-Boasiako, the manager of Hansol Mining Company, who made allegations against some immigration officials that they had been involved in the issuance of fake permits, was yet to make himself available for questioning.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) is set to launch investigations into the whole saga.
