Coalition to outdoor holistic therapy for homosexuality

The National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values says it will soon introduce a support system for individuals who wish to abandon their homosexual tendencies. 

Speaking at the launch of the World's Congress for Families conference held in Accra on Tuesday, September 24, the executive secretary of the Coalition, Mr Moses Foh-Amoaning said though the coalition was already providing assistance to such individuals, it is hopeful that the introduction of a well-rounded system will provide these individuals with stability.

"The truth of the matter is, people say that it is a human right, it's legally protected at the international covenants but the fact of the matter is lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights and homosexual rights have not been guaranteed under any international covenant or international treaty; and not the international nations convention, not the United Nations declaration.

"So, we look up on it as an abnormality and got to address it from the psychiatric, psychological, logical, medical, the counselling angle and the spiritual angle.

"So, we don’t hate any homosexual, on the contrary what we have done is to bring together expert psychologists, psychiatrists, from the biological angle, the counselors and all our spiritualists to develop a holistic sexual therapy system for dealing with this problem", he said.

The Deputy Health Minister, Alexander Abban said the health implications of homosexuality are burden for the tax payer, saying the cost of the negative implications are borne by the citizenry.

He added that the constitution provides respect for human rights but those rights are properly qualified by what is human, and his conviction is that what is human must be natural and cannot therefore agree to what is not natural.
