This follows the development of cracks in the building constructed and inaugurated a year ago.

The four-member staff, who were operating at the facility, are now waiting on authorities to get them a safe accommodation.

Based on professional advice from district engineers who inspected the building, the District Director of Health Services for Ahafo-Ano South, Mr Reuben Bedzrah, called for the closure of the facility during the district’s half-year review meeting at Mankranso.

He appealed to the assembly and Members of Parliament in the area and other agencies to come to the aid of the community to get a new facility to provide the people with quality health care.

The facility served over 6,000 people from communities such as Amokrom, Bokruwa, Gyaukrom, Aponaponso, Nyamebekyere, Sabronum Camp, Apenemadi and Adukrom.

Until the opening of the facility, the people had to travel more than 14 kilometres to access health care at either the Sabronum Health Centre or the Mankranso Hospital.

The road network in the area is so bad and that affected the conditions of patients who travelled to health facilities nearby.

The facility was constructed by the residents through self-help efforts including communal labour.

It has an out-patients department, antenatal and post-natal units, delivery, child welfare, family planning, school health facilities and residence for the nurses and other staff.
