He urged the company to start a full manufacturing plant in the country in order to create more employment and also boost trade between Ghana and India.

The High Commissioner said this at the launch of Bajaj’s latest addition to the Ghanaian market which is the “Bajaj Qute” (a Quadra cycle).

The company has been present in the country for the last couple of years through the introduction of its two-wheeler and three wheeler cycles which are mostly patronised in the SADA zones.

H.E Sagar said the latest addition was meant to solve the environmental problems of transportation.

He said the Quadra cycle was the latest revolution in urban transportation.

He also pointed out that the company had sold over 11,000 wheelers in Ghana, and expressed the hope that the market would respond well to its latest product.

The Senior Vice President, International Business of Bajaj, Mr K.S Grihapathy, said the four-wheeled passenger carrier was aimed at offering the market with first mile and last mile transportation solutions.

He said its three wheeler had over the years become a part of the social fabric in many countries as it had an advantage to maneuver compared to other vehicles because of its size.

He said apart from providing effective transportation solutions, it had also created employment for millions of people.

“We are now raising the bar and ushering in a new solution of transportation that is cleaner, safer and more comfortable,” he stated.

In Ghana, Qute will be sold through Bajaj-Auto’s sole distributor, Somoco Ghana Ltd, a subsidiary of Mohinani Group.

Mr Ashok Mohinani, Executive Director of the Mohinani Group, said it was delighted to partner Bajaj in creating a new segment of intra-city transport with Qute.
