Bank of Africa - Ghana supports patients to mark Mothers’ Day

Bank of Africa-Ghana on Saturday settled the bills of 12 mothers in the Gynaecology and Obstetrics department of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital who were still on admission for nonpayment of their medical bills.

The gesture which coincided with the Mother’s Day celebration, is part of the bank's corporate social responsibility and demonstrated its commitment to improving maternal health care and the well-being of the less-privileged in society.

Commenting on the rationale behind the donation, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications of Bank of Africa-Ghana, Mrs. Sharon Bansa stated that this initiative was to ensure that the mothers could join their families at home to celebrate the Mother’s Day event with smiles on their faces.

Acting Head of the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department, Dr. Damale reiterated that the inability of mothers to settle their medical bill was a major problem facing the unit and pleaded with philanthropists and Non-Governmental Organizations to come to the aid of such needy mothers. He thanked Bank of Africa - Ghana for the gesture and expressed the hope that other banks and organizations would emulate their example.

The beneficiaries of the donation also expressed their profound gratitude to Bank of Africa-Ghana and urged the bank not to relent in its CSR effort to always champion the cause of maternal health care.
