CLOGSAG to go on strike over interim premium
The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has served notice to the National Labour Commission that it will embark on a nationwide strike on March 3, 2020, to demand the full implementation of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on interim premium for its members.
The MoU signed between CLOGSAG and the government of Ghana in 2016 was to give a 15 per cent interim premium payable to CLOGSAG members with effect from January 1, 2017.
CLOGSAG was represented by its executives while the government was represented by the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, Ministry of Finance and Fair Wages and Salary Commission.

Only 10 per cent received
A letter issued in Accra on Wednesday [February 19, 2020] and signed by the Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, Mr Isaac Bampoe Addo, indicated that the members since the signing of the agreement to date members had only received 10 per cent of the interim premium.
“We have waited long enough and can no longer bear the frustration and demotivating that characterised this inequality. Constituents of CLOGSAG deserve better, lets us rise up as always and fight for what we deserve. It is time tested that workers benefits most often are not granted on a silver platter,” it stated.
The letter also gave a directive to the members to wear red bands and fly red flags at vantage points to express their grievances to the government.
