Come and invest in North East Region - Nayiri
The Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, Nayiri Naa Bohugu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, has called on local and foreign investors to consider investing in the North East Region, as there is relative peace in the area.
He said the Mamprugu Traditional Council had put in place stringent measures to ensure that all communal disputes were resolved amicably to pave the way for investment and progress.

"Let me take this opportunity to invite investors, both within and without, to consider investing in the North East Region, where we are enjoying relative peace. We shall continue to ensure that we maintain peace in order to speed up the rate of our development in order for us to catch up with the rest of the country," he said.
Naa Sheriga made the call at a durbar in Nalerigu last Wednesday to mark the first anniversary of the creation of the region.
The event was attended by hundreds of citizens from the region, residents of Nalerigu and well wishers.
Development
The Nayiri reminded the chiefs and the people of the region not to take the peace prevailing in the area for granted but to seriously and jealously guard it to promote development.
He said the creation of the region had put Mamprugu on the road to massive development, adding: "We have already begun seeing signs of the kind of development I am talking about. One of such is the sod-cutting that was done for the construction of the Pwalugu multi-purpose dam, which will provide electricity, help improve agricultural production through irrigation, as well as provide jobs.
“There is also the Zipline Centre at Kukua, near Walewale, which is one of the projects the region stands to benefit from."
While expressing gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for facilitating the projects, he appealed to the people of the region to work hard to get the region developed quickly.

Decentralisation
The North East Regional Minister, Mr Solomon Boar, said as part of efforts to decentralise the administration, a number of departments at the regional level had been decentralised to the various districts.
He pledged the commitment of the Regional Coordinating Council to collaborate with the traditional councils to ensure that the needed development was achieved for the area.
Background
President Nana Akufo-Addo, on February 12, 2019, publicly presented newly created regions with their Constitutional Instruments (CIs) following an overwhelming endorsement by the people in the affected regions in a referendum held on December 27, 2018.
The North East Region, one of the six newly created regions, is currently made up of six administrative districts, namely, Yunyoo/Nansuan, Mamprugu/Moagduri, East Mamprusi, Bunkpurugu/Nakpanduri, West Mamprusi and Chereponi.
It has a total land mass of about 10,484.95 sq. km and a population of about 549,000.
