COVID-19: Know the hotspot areas in Ghana
The Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi Regions remain the two major hotspot regions of COVID-19 cases in Ghana.
In the Greater Accra Region, the four main districts where majority of the region’s cases have been recorded are in the Accra Metropolitan, Tema Metropolitan, Klottey Korle and Kpong Katamanso municipalities.
Giving a district-based analysis of Ghana’s COVID-19 cases today [Tuesday, May 12, 2020], at the Ministry of Information’s media briefings, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Patrick Aboagye, said Tema, in the Greater Accra Region remains the hottest spot.

He also mentioned Ablekuma, Okaikwei South and North, Ashiaman and Adenta areas as well as the Ga Central Municipality as places of concern.
Ashanti Region
In the Ashanti Region, Obuasi remains the hottest spot. Other hotspot areas in the region are Kumasi, Oforikrom, and Nkawie.
Dr Aboagye also named Old Tafo, Asokwa, Kumasi Municipal, Kumasi Metropolis as areas recording high numbers of COVID-19 cases.
He said Suame remains one of the areas with high figures in the Kumasi Metropolis.
Central Region
In the Central Region, Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abbrem (KEEA) District, Cape Coast, and Ajumako are the hotspots.
