He said the move follows the acceptance of a request from the Kuwait government to return the Ghanaian nationals into the jurisdiction.
Measures
He stressed that all the 245 deportees would be mandatorily quarantined and tested for Covid-19 immediately on their arrival in Ghana.
Mr Oppong Nkrumah said the cost of quarantine and treatment of the deportees would be borne by the government of Ghana.
"In addition to the aforementioned COVID-19 measures, please take note that the deportees will generally be received and handled in line with the immigration regulations for all deportees. i.e. they will be in the custody of the state for preliminary investigations on the circumstances of their illegal stay in Kuwait," Mr Oppong Nkrumah said.
The National Security Secretariat he said has been instructed to collaborate with the Military, the Police and the Ghana Immigration Service to ensure that the mandatory quarantine is enforced.
