Numbering about 30, the  persons with disability(PWDs), who were mostly in wheelchairs and crutches, some LEKMA officials and members of the Friends Fun Club weeded and cleared rubbish from choked gutters.

Most of the PWDs had to crawl or limp while performing this communal labour. Others remained in their wheelchairs to do the cleaning and sweeping.

An aspiring MP for Tsui Bleoo Central and National President of the Tourism Society of Ghana, Joseph Amartey, also lent his support by providing machetes and other tools for the exercise.

The president of More Hope for the Disabled Foundation, Joseph Mends, noted that despite their handicaps, they were obliged to offer their widow’s mite to help safeguard and clean the environment.

“We are much pleased and happy to be contributing our quota to society and we hope to take this opportunity to appeal to the state to invest in us and make us useful for societal benefit,” Mr Mends noted.

The Environmental Health Officer of LEKMA, Mrs Joana Gerald-Nai, advised members of the community to practise good hygiene and clean their environment regularly.

She urged them to abide by these ethics for health and long life.
