Transport Minister Dzifa Ativor who was involved in discussions to get the striking workers return to work, has said that firm assurances have been given the workers, whose action was to back demands for the urgent resolution of certain administrative and technical challenges.

She told Asempa FM in Accra that the strike had nothing to do with salaries or working conditions of the striking workers but certain industry challenges. Those challenges, she said, are receiving utmost attention except that the workers thought the pace was not desirable.

President of the Ghana Air Traffic Controllers Association (GHATCA), Mr Micheal Kwapong Atiemo who described their action as a partial withdrawal of service rather than a strike, said they have agreed to work on the basis of the assurances from the Transport Ministry, the Chief of Staff and other quarters and was hopeful that the concerns over safety, technical and managerial challenges would be resolved.
