Dr Ogbordjor is Asante Akyem South’s Best Farmer

A YawKwei-based farmer who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of First Klass Hospital, Konongo, Dr Steve Ogbordjor, has been adjudged the Best Farmer for the Asante Akyem South District in the Ashanti Region.

This was during the celebration of this year’s districts Farmers Day held at Komeso.

Dr Ogbordjor was presented with a certificate which said the award was “in recognition of your outstanding contribution towards the Development of Agriculture in Ghana”.

He was also presented with a motorbike, two knapsack spraying machines, four cutlasses, a radio set, a piece of cloth and three pairs of wellington boots.

The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr De-graft Forkuoh, who presented the certificate and the items, congratulated Dr Ogbordjor and other award winners on making Ghana proud in terms of agriculture.

He urged farmers in the district to continue to broaden their frontiers of farming to increase their yields for their various communities, the district, the region and the country as a whole.

Dr Ogbordjor, who was humbled by the honour, pledged to work harder to support the national food basket.

He owns six acres of pineapple plantation, plantain, pepper, beans, maize and some cash crops, and that apart from owning a fish pond, poultry, turkey and rabbit rearing among others.

In 2012 during the national Farmers Day celebration in the same district, he emerged the Best District Yam Farmer.
