The company has also spent more than GH¢150 million on civil works in the region to improve the quality of its services.

Mr William Hutton-Mensah, the Managing Director of the ECG, who announced this, said the company had, for the past two years, been working to increase its infrastructure.

He was speaking at the inauguration of an office complex at the Elmina substation of the ECG in the Central Region.

Customer Services

Mr Hutton-Mensah said with more than 30 customer service offices established and more to be completed, it would increase the company’s visibility across the country, particularly the Central Region, so that customers would find it easy to access the company’s services.

He noted that the construction of the offices was necessitated by the constant demand by customers for quality services.

He advised ECG staff to increase revenue collection and minimise system losses.

Mr Hutton-Mensah implored the public to report energy theft and also to pay their bills on time to enable the ECG to function as expected.

The Central Regional Manager of the ECG, Mr Abraham Anokye Abrebrese, admonished the company’s staff to eschew negative attitudes towards customers.

“The idea that our company does not face stiff competition from others more often than not clouds our conscience to treat our customers with contempt. Try to treat customers with care and respect,” he stated.

According to him, the workers needed to work on the way they treated customers in order to change the negative perception the public had of the company.

Mr Abrebrese explained that that negative perception the public had of the company affected the operations of the company.

The Chief of Ntronoa, Nana Kweku Ntsin V, who chaired the event, commended the ECG for putting up the edifice in Elmina to improve its customer services.
