Objective
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Graphic, the Director of Marketing and Sales of the GCGL, Mr Franklin Sowa, explained that the core objective of the promo was to get people excited about reading and as well positioning reading as a lifestyle.
“The initiative is to inspire our customers to continue reading our papers. Imagine when you know that you are buying a newspaper to obtain credible information and in addition still have the opportunity to win something. It serves as motivation for customers.
“The company has existed for all these years and we feel it is very appropriate that we give something back to our loyal customers.
“This is not going to be a one-off initiative, we still have more in the pipeline,” Mr Sowa said.

Boost in sales
He said there was currently a shift from newspapers to online media platforms, and “These online platforms sometimes only give brief summary in their reportage but with the print, we offer readers quality content and also refined language and analysis.
“In fact, we also give readers the opportunity to decide for themselves based on their perspectives,” he added.
According to Mr Sowa, since the promo begun, a significant number of people have desired to read the peper with the result that it had led to an increase in traffic on the online.
