FirstBank Ghana pays courtesy calls on Gulkpe Naa and Dakpema ahead of new branch opening

The leadership of FirstBank Ghana has paid courtesy calls on two prominent traditional rulers in the Northern Region, the Gulkpe Naa, Alhaji Naa Abdulai Alhassan, and the Dakpema, Naa Bawa Fuseini, as part of activities marking the commissioning of its new branch in Tamale.

The delegation, led by Ms Rosie Ebe-Arthur, Non-Executive Director, and Mr Victor Yaw Asante, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, was accompanied by senior officials of the bank.

The visits were to formally announce FirstBank Ghana’s arrival in Tamale, seek the blessings of the chiefs, and underline the bank’s commitment to supporting the socio-economic transformation of the Northern Region.

Ahead of the visits, the bank partnered with Hope Channel to support a health screening exercise at the forecourt of the Dakpema Palace. The initiative, which offered residents free medical checks, was described as a demonstration of FirstBank’s belief that sustainable development is rooted in both economic and social empowerment.

Addressing the chiefs, Mr Asante said the expansion into Tamale was strategic, given the city’s role as a hub of trade, culture, and commerce. He explained that the new branch would serve traders, entrepreneurs, farmers, students, and families, adding that the bank was committed to providing innovative financial solutions that would foster growth.

“Coming to Tamale marks a significant milestone for FirstBank Ghana. Our visit to the Gulkpe Naa and the Dakpema is not only to seek their blessings, but also to affirm that FirstBank is here to walk hand in hand with the people of Tamale. We are here to support the aspirations of traders, entrepreneurs, farmers, students, and families by providing innovative financial solutions that foster growth and prosperity. Our presence here is a pledge to be part of Tamale’s story of progress,” he said.

Both the Gulkpe Naa and the Dakpema welcomed FirstBank’s entry into the region and praised the bank for extending its footprint to the north.

They stressed the importance of financial institutions in driving development and pledged their full support to ensure the bank’s success in the region.
