The decision of the business executives to visit the country is basically motivated by the successes chalked up recently by Ghana to consolidate its democratic gains in an election described by world leaders as peaceful, free, fair and transparent.

The French Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Frederick Clavier, who led a delegation to call on the Vice-President, Mr Kwesi  Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, at the Flagstaff House in Accra yesterday, said, “ I want to stress the satisfaction of France about your election which was transparent, free and fair.”

He said Ghana had made significant progress in stability and created a lot of opportunity, particulary, in recent years, for foreign investments.

Mr Clavier recalled the bond of friendship between the two countries, particularly, in the areas of  education, trade, health and agriculture and said “ we have the capacity to invest more in Ghana.”

“We are confident that the Mahama administration will open the gate for investors to improve the country’s economic framework,” saying, “we will establish high profile dialogue to exchange views and promote peace and stability.”

He used the opportunity to congratulate President John Mahama, on his election to the high office of President, adding that “Ghana is on track politically, socially and economically.”

“I am promoting  your country to France and they are sure Ghana will make it work,” he said

The Vice-President, for his part, viewed the gesture as an opportunity to enhance  the co-operation “that affects our two countries in security, trade, and the economy as a whole.”

He said President Mahama was confident of the progress of the country, saying, “ we will remain progressive in our quest to advance our democratic gains.”

The Vice-President said there were a lot the two countries could discuss on to improve the lots of their people, particulary, the issue on Mali, Cote d’Ivoire, among others .
