The Founder of Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has called on Christian leaders and believers to embrace transgenerational thinking, stressing that ministry must impact generations beyond the present.
Speaking during a send off service for the Most Rev. Dr Bishop Samuel N. Mensah, outgoing Bishop of the Full Gospel Church International (FGCI), in Tema in last Saturday, Archbishop Duncan-Williams commended Most Rev. Dr Mensah for upholding the vision of the founder of FGCI, the late Most Rev. Emmanuel A. Mensah.
“God is a transgenerational God. Many ministries die when their leaders die, but not this one.
The baton moved from the late Most Rev Emmanuel A. Mensah to Bishop Samuel Mensah, and it will continue to generations yet unborn,” Archbishop Duncan-Williams said.
He reminded the congregation that true legacy was measured not by wealth or status, but by the lives one transforms.
“If you live and die without impacting others, you fail your generation,” he stressed.
Governance
Outgoing Bishop of the FGCI, Most Rev. Dr Mensah, underscored the importance of governance structures and deliberate succession planning to ensure the longevity of institutions, including the charismatic churches in Ghana.
Touching on his 46 years in ministry, including 22 years of leading FGCI, Most Rev. Dr Mensah said developing people, nurturing talent and transforming lives remained demanding, yet vital responsibilities for church leaders.
He described FGCI as the first Pentecostal-charismatic church founded in 1978, noting that it has successfully transitioned through three generations of leadership, from the founder, late Most Rev Emmanuel A. Mensah, to himself, and now to a new successor, Rt Rev. Dela Fiagome.
He warned that many charismatic churches risk a succession crisis within the next five years if preparations are not made early to appoint successors.
Most Rev Dr Mensah, who would continue as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of FGCI, said he planned to focus on leadership development, coaching and institutional strengthening for churches and organisations across the globe.
