Christ The King Women’s Fellowship donates to Akropong School for the Blind

The Women's Fellowship of the Christ The King Methodist Church, East Legon within the Madina Circuit, has made a presentation to the Akropong School for the Blind in the Akuapem North Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The items donated include 20 pieces of white cane, 12 packets of braille sheets, 10 pieces of hand frame, some toiletries and detergent to support the basic hygienic needs of the school.

In addition, the fellowship also gave the school an undisclosed amount of money, as well as shared some snacks with the students.

25th milestone

The donation forms part of activities marking the 25th anniversary of the fellowship with the theme: "Growing into Christian Maturity Uniting Christians for Service".

Making the presentation on the school's premises at Akropong last Friday, the Chairperson of the fellowship, Eugenia Effah-Adu, said the fellowship had to demonstrate the virtue of charity by focusing on the inmates and that was in line with the fellowship's religious responsibility.

She stated that focusing on such unfortunate children had made the children feel at home as a family like any other person.

Appreciating God

Mrs Effah-Adu added that the donation was also to honour and appreciate God for his love and care towards the church's endeavours.

She appealed to the government and policymakers to adequately resource the school since that institution had made enormous contributions to the human capital development of the country.

The Fellowship Chairperson also lauded the management of the school for their efforts in managing it over the years despite the challenges of the school.

Support

The Headmistress of the school, Veronica Dery, expressed appreciation for the kind gesture and called on individuals and organisations to assist the school with learning materials to enhance teaching and learning.

She indicated that the children were doing well, but lack of support from well-to-do Ghanaians had become the biggest challenge confronting the school.
