Ghana records second Coronavirus death with 25 existing cases
Ghana has recorded its second death from the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19). As of Monday night (March 23, 2020), there were 25 existing confirmed cases.
According to the Ghana Health Service (GHS) a total of 521 suspected cases have since been tested for COVID-19 by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) and the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR).
Out of the suspected cases, 27 including the two deaths have been confirmed as positive.

All the 25 confirmed cases are receiving treatment in isolation.
Among the confirmed cases, 20 are of Ghanaian nationality, majority of whom returned home from affected countries.
The remaining seven are of other nationals namely Norway, Lebanon, China, France and the United Kingdom (UK).

In respect of the contact tracing, the Ghana Health Service said a total of 598 contacts have been identified and are being tracked.
One of the contacts developed symptoms and has been confirmed positive, it said.

The GHS explained in its situation update statement that 19 people have completed the 14 days of mandatory follow up.
