The chapter also recognised corporate institutions and sponsors who contributed to a recent peace walk organised by the group.

Commendation

President of the ISGF Ghana Chapter, Andrew Botchwey, commended the awardees for dedicating their lives and time to supporting social impact initiatives of the chapter.

He encouraged them to continue volunteering and supporting activities aimed at ensuring a peaceful Ghana.

He urged them to remain committed to the goals and ideals of the chapter and to help train other youth to become good citizens in the country.

Training

Mr Botchwey announced that the chapter would, from next year, begin to train 5,000 youth with support from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre.

In addition to this, he said the Scouts and Guides Fellowship also intend to build an ultra moden training centre to help facilitate the training of the volunteers across the country.

Currently, the President said they were raising funds for the construction of an ultra-modern training centre for scouts and guides in Efumkrom, Nsawam.

He, therefore, called on corporate Ghana, government and other stakeholders to come on board to support the initiative.

Highlighting on some initiatives undertaken to ensure a peaceful election, he said some of the chapter’s members completed a seven-day peace walk from Kumasi to Accra.

He said the event, which witnessed hundreds of scouts and guides waving the Ghanaian flag along the route was to promote peace and unity ahead of the elections.
