Latex Foam supports National Chief Imam for Eid-ul-Adha
Latex Foam, a leading mattress and foam manufacturer in the West African sub-region, last Tuesday presented a cow and an undisclosed amount of cash to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, ahead of the Eid-ul Adha celebrations.
Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is an Islamic festival that celebrates the sense of sacrifice as exhibited by the prophet Ibrahim in the Qur’an.
The donation was made on behalf of the company by a delegation of senior executives at the Chief Imam’s Fadama residence in Accra.
The delegation, made up of the Export Manager, Dr Yakubu Diomande, and the Public Relations Officer, Gifty Appiah, acknowledged the Chief Imam’s immense contribution to national development and his continuous promotion of peaceful coexistence among the various religious groups in the country.
Solidarity with Muslims
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Dr Diomande stated that the gesture formed part of Latex Foam’s corporate social responsibility initiatives and also served as a demonstration of solidarity with the Muslim community during the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul Adha.
He said the role of the Chief Imam in national development had not gone unnoticed by Ghanaians, and that his wisdom and guidance had consistently served as a pillar of peace and unity for the nation.
Dr Diomande took the opportunity to caution Ghanaians to be vigilant about the growing influx of poor-quality mattresses and foam products on the local market.
He cautioned the public against purchasing “sickness” in the form of low-grade mattresses that the Ghana Standards Authority was working to eliminate from the Ghanaian market.
Dr Diomande said Latex Foam offered high-quality mattresses at various price points to meet the needs of all Ghanaians, emphasising that the company was among the first to raise awareness about the harmful health effects associated with substandard mattresses.
Dr Diomande wished Muslims across the country and the world a fruitful celebration.
Appreciation
The Chief Imam expressed appreciation to Latex Foam for its unwavering support to his office and prayed for Allah’s blessings upon the company and all of its endeavours.
Latex Foam has established a long-standing relationship with the Office of the National Chief Imam over the years.
The donation of a cow for Islamic festivities such as Eid-ul-Adha is an annual support to the religious leader towards the celebration of the event.
Background
Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice, is the second of the two main festivals in Islam, alongside Eid-ul-Fitr.
It falls on the 10th of Dhu'l-Hijja, the 12th and final month of the Islamic calendar.
The celebrations and observances are generally carried forward to the three following days, known as the Tashreeq days.
The Eid prayer is performed on the morning of Eid-ul-Adha, after which the udhiyah or the ritual sacrifice of a livestock animal, is performed.
In Islamic tradition, it honours the willingness of Abrahim to sacrifice his son Ishmael as an act of obedience to God's command.
Pilgrims performing the Hajj typically perform the tawaf and saee of Hajj on Eid-ul-Adha, along with the ritual stoning of the devil on the Eid day and the following days.
