The items include 30 glucometers, 30 HB strips, 10 digital BP monitors, 10 thermometers, 10 examination beds, 10 HB machines, 10 glucometers, five NASCO tabletop fridges, two patient stretchers, two vaccine fridges and one oxygen cylinder (40LT) with regulators.
The beneficiaries are the St Michael Clinic at Akyem Ntronang, and CHPS compounds at Nyafoman, Mamanso, Prasokuma, Kyenkyenku, Nwinsohene, Noyem, Abokyikrom and Kuntunase.
The function attracted many dignitaries, including the Birim North District Director of Health Services, Daniel Derly; the Akyem Ntronanghene, Nana Asiedu Akora II, and the Executive Director of Ntiamoah Foundation, Mercy Quansah Ansah.
Support
Speaking at the ceremony, the Board Chairman of Ntiamoah Foundation, Dr Kojo Punpuni Asante, said his outfit had, since its establishment in 2006, provided 14 CHPS compounds, the St Michael Clinic and the New Abirem Government Hospital with large quantities of medical equipment and consumables to enhance the delivery of quality healthcare services.
He stressed that the NGO recognised that healthcare delivery, especially in rural and underserved communities in the Birim North District, faced many challenges ranging from the lack of basic medical supplies and equipment to understaffed and outstretched facilities.
“Our health support project is aimed at helping our communities to stay healthy and providing medical equipment to health facilities that are in need,” he stressed.
Easy access
Dr Asante said a major objective of the Ntiamoah Foundation was to ensure that everyone had easy access to quality health care.
He said the Ntiamoah Foundation was committed to supporting each of the 14 CHPS compounds until they were adequately equipped to function as healthcare centres, in line with the global goal of achieving health for all.
Vital tools
The District Health Director, Mr Derly, commended Ntiamoah Foundation for its exceptional and sustained contributions to the advancement of health care in the district.
He said through human development, the NGO had invested in the future by sponsoring health staff for further studies, thereby strengthening the skills, knowledge and capacity of the healthcare workforce.
Mr Derly stated that in health infrastructure, the NGO’s adoption and renovation of the maternity block of the New Abirem Government Hospital had transformed it into a dignified, modern and safe environment for mothers and newborns.
Touching on medical equipment and logistics, the District Health Director said the NGO’s generous provision of delivery beds, motorbikes and other vital healthcare tools had expanded the reach and enhanced service delivery.
The Programmes Manager of the NGO, Williams Sarpong, advised the beneficial health facilities to take proper care of the items and use them for the intended purpose to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare services.
