Prudential Bank empowers Labone SHS girls on integrity, leadership

Female students have been encouraged to build a strong personal foundation centred on self-respect, integrity, emotional intelligence, faith, financial independence, purpose, ambition, and self-care.

The Total Quality Control Manager for Customer Care at Prudential Bank Limited, Jamila Disu, who gave the encouragement, stressed that these pillars would shape the students' authentic selves and determine how they present themselves throughout life.

She was speaking at a Women Empowerment Series held by Prudential Bank Limited (PBL) and Mastercard Ghana for students of Labone Senior High School.

The programme, aimed at equipping the students to take control of their futures and develop resilience, was held to mark International Women's Day, observed annually on March 8.

The empowerment series was held on the theme, “Ignite Her for a Sustainable Future”. Presenters, predominantly women, covered topics such as building a personal brand, achieving financial independence, prioritising well-being, and transforming passions into viable, income-generating ventures.

Ms Disu advised the students to uphold integrity and strength of character, to do the right thing, even when unobserved, and to avoid actions that could compromise their values.

Potential

The Chief Risk Officer at PBL, Randal Ofori-Boachie, explained that the initiative was designed to bolster the students' confidence, discipline, and leadership skills, thereby preparing them for the next stages of their academic and professional lives.

He underscored the bank's dedication to weaving responsible, inclusive, and socially impactful principles into its operations, identifying gender equality, diversity, and inclusion as fundamental priorities.

By investing both time and resources in young women, he said the bank anticipates unlocking a wealth of leadership potential that will ultimately benefit households, organisations, and the wider community.

The headmistress of Labone SHS, Rejoice Akua Acorlor, stressed how education, mentorship, and opportunity are instrumental in helping girls evolve into strong leaders capable of transforming their families and society.

She underscored the critical importance of nurturing the potential within girls through consistent support and guidance.
