The scene was a vibrant display of joy and unity, with supporters dressed in NDC-branded attire and waving flags as they danced to music blaring from speakers.
Many sang songs in praise of John Dramani Mahama, the party’s flag bearer and now Ghana’s President-elect.
In spite of the massive turnout, security personnel worked tirelessly to maintain order and control the crowd to prevent overcrowding at the party’s headquarters.
However, some excited supporters managed to slip through the barricade that was mounted. Motorbikes and cars sped through the area, with drivers honking their horns and performing stunts in celebration.
Supporters who spoke to the Daily Graphic could not contain their excitement.
Many expressed relief and gratitude, saying the victory was long overdue. For them, former President Mahama’s triumph represented hope for a better future.

An elderly man, Moro Issah, said: “We’ve waited for this moment for more than eight years, and God has finally delivered”.

His voice was filled with emotion as he recounted the difficult years following Mr Mahama’s defeat in 2020.
“When he lost in 2020, I thought it was over. I said to myself that I would never see him in power again. But lo and behold, God has been good to us. He’s a good man, and I’ve always appreciated him. I’m glad the majority of Ghanaians think so too,” he added.
Another supporter, who gave his name as Eric, said the victory was a testament to Mr Mahama’s resilience and his vision for the country.
