Top-Up Pharmacy, Danpong support Graphic medical screening
Two local pharmaceutical companies, Top-Up Pharmacy Limited and Danpong Medical Centre, have donated assorted drugs to the Graphic Communications Group Ltd (GCGL) towards its annual health screening for residents of Adabraka in Accra on September 21.
The Manager of the Osu branch of Top-Up Pharmacy, Dr Priscilla Hammond, made the presentation in Accra last Monday, while the Public Relations and Marketing representative of Danpong Medical Centre, Elikplim Opare, presented the items to GCGL yesterday.

The health screening exercise is aimed at enhancing the health and well-being of the residents of the media organisation’s immediate community.
It is part of GCGL’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) to the community within the catchment area of the company’s operational headquarters.
Objective
Dr Hammond said the donation was part of the company's CSR in ensuring the safety and health of the public.
She reaffirmed the company’s commitment to providing affordable healthcare solutions to improve the lives and well-being of all.
“We are pleased to partner Graphic in this important initiative,” she added.
She emphasised the importance of empowering communities through health initiatives, saying, “We need to reach out to those who are more disadvantaged and lack access to basic health care”.

“When we empower these individuals, they in turn empower their families, which strengthens the entire community and ultimately Ghana as a whole," she stated.
Dr Hammond expressed the hope that the donated medications would make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who received them and urged the community to take advantage of the exercise.
Appreciation
The Assistant Corporate Communications Officer of GCGL, Yvonne Dasoberi, who received the items on behalf of management, expressed appreciation to the company for its generous contributions.
“This support is vital in ensuring we have the necessary supplies to meet the healthcare needs of the residents. It will enable us to offer quality healthcare services to those who may not have regular access to medical care,” she said.

Ms Dasoberi expressed the hope that the initiative would go a long way to help provide health care for the people of Adabraka.
“By offering these screenings at no cost, we hope to identify health issues early, educate residents on healthy practices, and improve the overall health of the community,” she said.
“Our goal is to reach as many residents as possible and provide them with quality health services that can help detect and prevent potential health issues,” she said.

She, therefore, called on individuals, local businesses and healthcare organisations to support and contribute resources to ensure the success of the exercise.
“We are confident that with the support of partners such as Top-Up Pharmacy, the screening will make a meaningful difference in the lives of many residents,” she added.
Danpong donation
The Danpong Medical Centre donated essential items such as paracetamol, analgesics, drugs for hypertension, malaria treatments, testing kits, gloves, glucometers and glucometer strips.

Mr Opare said the donation was part of the company’s (CSR) aimed at supporting "worthy causes" and offering an opportunity to partner Graphic in giving back to the community.
The Public Relations and Marketing representative of Danpong Medical Centre highlighted that the health screening initiative aligned with Danpong’s mission to become a "premier healthcare company" and its vision of prioritising clients within the community in which it operated.
More support
The Head of Operations, Nelson Agbeviade, gave an assurance of the company’s continued support for Graphic and similar health initiatives, noting that the centre also aided institutions such as the Prisons Service, Manna Mission, and the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.
Mr Agbeviade said Danpong expected participants of the health screening to recognise the value of the initiative and become more engaged in health-related activities in the future.

“We expect that everybody that will pass by will see the good cause that you have taken and take more interest in the things you do,” he added.
Initiative
This year’s exercise has also received sponsorship from private institutions such as GN Industries, Tobinco Pharmaceuticals and Ayrton Drugs.
Other companies that have supported the exercise include medical diagnostic provider, SYNLAB; Gokals Healthy Optionz, Serepa Dental Clinic, Melcom Care Foundation, Unicom Chemist and Letap Pharmaceuticals Limited.

The rest are Royal Dach Pharmaceuticals, Ernest Chemists Limited, Blue Skies and Pizzaman-Chickenman Fast Food Restaurant.
The donated items include painkillers, dewormers, blood tonics, antibiotics and other essential supplies.
The screening will provide vital health services, including general check-ups, blood pressure monitoring, dental screening, diabetes testing, hypertension, cholesterol level assessment, and health education, at no cost to the community.
The exercise also aims to provide early diagnosis promote preventive health care among the residents, and also reduce the risk of severe health complications in the future.
