We’re investing in modern school infrastructure projects — Dr Adutwum
The government is investing in the construction of modern school infrastructure to meet the needs of 21st century learning, the Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has said.

He said the projects were intended to revolutionise the country’s educational space and make it fit for purpose. Dr Adutwum mentioned the Juaben and Sunyani Model Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Senior High Schools (SHSs) as some of the projects where work was ongoing.
He said a STEM school from kindergarten to the SHS level had been completed in Accra and would be opened in September this year. The minister was speaking at this year’s International Educators Summit held at the International Community School in Accra on the theme: " Reimagining education for the future we seek: Africa and the world in dialogue."
It was organised by the Ghana Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD).
Renovations
Dr Adutwum also said that the government had made investments in institutions such as the Kumasi High School and the Aflao Community SHS through modern educational facilities to improve learning outcomes.
He further said that 12 schools had been selected to offer aviation and aerospace courses to increase STEM education in the country. "We need to teach assertive schoolchildren to be confident and express themselves without fear.
"School heads must create a congenial environment for pupils to ask questions in class instead of being intimidated," the minister added. He commended organisers of the summit and described the event as a catalyst for change through which ideas would be nurtured.
Providing solutions
A Senior Presidential Advisor, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, said education must play a meaningful role in addressing challenges. "We need to think about education to solve problems like sanitation and flooding, among others," he added.

The Founder of Ashesi University, Dr Patrick Awuah, underscored the importance of inculcating good values in students for them to succeed.
"Integrity and performance are highly integrated. Our students do not see cheating as a pathway to success," he said.
For his part, the Executive Director, Ghana ASCD, Dr Charles Yeboah, said the summit was to address challenges in the education sector and explore new frontiers of educational technology.
He said since its inception in 2017, his outfit had been hosting educational conferences tailored for teachers and school administrators to enhance education in the country.
