Additionally, total number of cases recovered is 645 while total number of contacts becoming cases is 17.

Vaccination
As of October 12, 2025, a total of 14,490 persons (73.9 per cent) of target population) have been
vaccinated whereas majority (68.8 per cent) of vaccinated persons are within the 20-39 age group.
Case management
To mange the cases and prevent infections, the GHS will organise Workshops on atypical mpox presentations, wound care, home isolation procedures and psychosocial support planned in eight selected regions.
The workshops will target staff at ART sites, STI clinics and other health facilities to heighten clinical suspicion and improve care for mpox cases.
Weekly social media series on mpox has also been launched while a telephone poll to assess penetration of mpox key messages has been deployed in various local languages.
The GHS has urged the public to remain vigilant and practice good hygiene to help curb the spread of the virus, which is primarily transmitted through close contact with an infected person.
The Service further advised that anyone experiencing these symptoms should immediately report to the nearest health facility for examination and treatment.
Background
In mid-May 2025, Ghana confirmed its first two Mpox cases—one each in the Greater Accra and Western Regions—prompting the GHS to declare a fresh outbreak and begin enhanced surveillance and contact tracing.
By May 18, total confirmed infections had risen to four cases linked to Clade Ib virus strains with potential household transmission.
Regional health authorities immediately activated the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC), mobilised personal protective equipment (PPE), and disseminated national Mpox case definitions and testing protocols to all district health facilities.
